AUCKLAND NEWS.
|(bvt telegraph.— own correposndknt). AuOKLAN-n, Last Night. A GOOD deal of money is just now being invested in Rood class of draught horses. Over £100 was sent to Auckland fmm Te Puke, last week for the purchase of this class of stock, which is increasing rapidly in value. The Bay of Plenty "Times" sayasome of the settlers will do well to go in for breeding a better class of farm horse than is to be seen in that district at present. Fears are entertained i:n- the safety of the ship, Oamara, bound from Picton for London, with a cargo of wool. Michael Ryan wa? remanded at. the Police Court to-day, on a charge of violent assault on Sergeant Hughes, who looks as if ho had been roughly treated. He states that as he was going along Hnbson-street he was accosted, called " informer " and then struck on the lelt temple with a stick. It required assistance to ensure the arrest of Ryan who had been an inmate of the Home of the Little Bisters of the Poor. He was in the Old Men's Refuge, Prison Gate Brigade Home and Oostley Home, and was now a recipient of nut-door relief.
