THE HEAVIEST GIRL ON EARTH

A girl 11 years of age, who weighs 29 stones, may be regarded as a veritable local curiosity. She is the daughter of a small farmer name Thomas Dale, who lives in the quiet out-of-the-way village of Mow Cop. in Staffordshire. She was born on February 23, 18S1, and at her birth was a child of ordinary size. At the end of three months she began to develop very rapidly, until at the present tiuie she is undoubtedly the largest child of her years in the world. J"he is sft 3in in height, and measures sft. 2in. around the body. Her legs at the thickest part are 3ft. 4in. round. The parent# of the girl are medium-sized people, as may b# inferred from the statment that she weighs 126 pounds more than her father and" mother together. She is a bright, attractive, and talkative child, and P'*y s as other children do of her own age. For her enormous weight she is very motive, but if she accidentally stumbles and falls she cannot get up without assitance. Dolls are her great delight, and in making their apparel she exhibits considerable Sexterity and intelligence. She has a brother and two sisters older than herself, and weighs 120 pounds more than them all. Many tempting offers hav« boon made to Mr Dale to allow his child to be exhibited in public, but he steadfastly refuses to entertain'them. She has no special diet, but dines with the other members of the family, consuming as much food as a healthy man, and sleeping on an average twelve to fourteen hours each night. On the railway she travels with a 'half-ticket, a privilege to which she is entitled, but which often causes her father to supply his name and address to irate ticket collectors who entertain an honest suspicion about a giantess wbo takes as much space as ordinary persons would occupy. She is a perfectly healthy girl, and, without doubt, the most marvelous instance of abnormal growth living in the British Isles.—The Million.
