ROAD BOARD MEETINGS.

TAOTAOIIOA BOARD. Thk above Board mot at the Criterion Hotel, Cambridge, on Saturday, at noon. Present: Messrs S. Seddon (chairman), H. J. Turner, and H. R. Brnnskill. A. Nfav Mrmbku Wanted.—Mr Jus. Bailey forwarded his resignation as a member of the Board.—The Clerk was instructed to take the necessary steps to fill the vacancy.

Finance.—Tho Board had a credit balance at date of £110 13s !)d. The members thought the Government should be requested to continue the subsidising of local bodies.

Accounts.—The following accounts were passed for payment(J. Wattam, JLI (a ; public debt, £4 10s Id ; audit fee, 3s 4d. This concluded the business, the Board having sat only a few minutes. CAM3JRIDBE ROAD BOARD. This Board met at Hewitt's Hotel, Cambridge, at 4 p.m. on Saturday, the hoar of meeting being altered to enable the members to witness an implement trial that was held that afternoon. There were present; Messrs J. Forrest (chairman), J. Taylor, M. H. Pickering, and H. J. Pat-on, A Resignation.—Mr Jas. Bailey for warded his resignation as a member of the Board.—The usual steps will be taken to fill the vacancy. Victoria Road.—The Chairman reported he had communicated, with the Borough Council re the open drain across the footpath on the Victoria road, and tha Council had at once put in a culvert and remedied the detect.

Cbawkokd's Gully.—Mr Pickering re ported the lopping of trees, etc., authorised to be done in the above gully had been more than carried out, as the trees on both sides of ic had been cut, whereas it was only contemplated taking them from one side. The Roads.—The chairman said the roads everywhere were in a bad state, and he found the main road would take mora gravel than he had estimated. One part, near Mr Patoii's would require'cjuite nine yards of gravel to the chain, and'hethought the Board should let another contract for gravelling the road from near Mr Main's gate to Camp's corner, lie would also ask the Board ta reform 17 chains of the Cambridge end of the road before gravelling it, for the middle of the road was hollow and the water ran on to instead of cff it. Mr Paton thought if the road was rounded up in many parts it would save a great deal of gravelling, as it would then throw the water off. The chairman was afraid theycould not afford to do it all along. Tho reforming of the 17 chains was authorised ; the other matters were deferred till the weather: improved. Works upon Dougherty's deviation and Buckland's road were also deferred till the dry weather. Tamahkuk.— Mr L. B. Eweii wrote stating that in wet weather the road near his gate was a perfect lake, caused by ;i drain liaviug been tilled iu. It appears thu drain runs through Mr Casey's land, and it was resolved to ask him to kindly reopen the drain and so free the road from water. Repaius.—lt WHS resolved to fill in some of the worst holes on the Victoria road, which of late has become positively dangerous to wheeled traffic. A few accounts were passed for payment, and the Board rosg.
