ENGLISH ELECTIONS.

The Nationalists have elected the members for East Cavan (Young) and Mid-Tippcrary (J. 11. McCarthy). Former members have been elected for North Division of Worcester, North Derry, Northern Division of Norfolk and East Waterford.
It is rumoured that Lord Carrington will succeed the Earl of Zetland as Viceroy of Ireland. The Marquis of Salisbury, after visiting Windsor, has decided to meet Parliament, on August 4. In Vienna it is reported that the change in the English Government will be in favour of France. Berlin, July 18. The Fremdenblatt says Lord Salisbury always possessed the confidence of every lover of peace during his term of office. Although he protected the interests of England in every way, his efforts in the East were crowned with success, and it is to be hoped that his successor will maintain the present status of Great Britain among the Powers.
Paris, July 18. \ The Journal des Debafcs, in discussing the result of the English elections, says it is aware that the Liberals have declared that they will not change the foreign policy of England, but there are different methods of carrying it out. The journal believes that Gladstone will instil a feeling of goodwill into the relations between France and England. July 19. The former member, Earl Oompton (Liberal), has been elected for Barnsley, division of Yorkshire. The opponents of Home Rule have polled 2,118,000 votes, and the Liberals and Irish members 2,375,000. The latest returns with 10 more members to come, give: j Conservatives .. .. 2G7 Unionists .. .. 44 Gladstone Liberal .. 272 Nationalists .. .. GS Parnellites .. .. 9 The English members in favour of the preservation of the Union outnumber those elected on tlio Home Rule ticket by 70.
Indian Princes have intimated their intention of sending £32,000 to Mr D. Naorage the parsee, who "was elected for Finsbury for the purpose of erecting a memorial in honour of his victory. The Conservatives gain Lichfield where Mr Darwin was elected by a majority of four. The former members have been re- elected for Sheffield Central, C. E. Vincent C. B. Conservative; West Cork. James Gillovly, Nationalist; High Peak Division of Denbyshiro, Hon. G. Keenon, Conservative; and Norwich, Jeremiah Colmun, Gladstone Liberal. Mr O'Driscoll. Nationalist was elected for South Monoghan, and Mr Thompson, Unionist for Wandsworth Division of Staffordshire. Mr Sexton has been elected for North Kerry. Mr Hall, Recorder of London, stands for Holboni seat, rendered vacant by the elevation of Mr Bruce to a Judgeship.
