HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

TitK ordinary meeting of tho Hamilton Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers at 7.:50 p.m. on Tuesday. There was a full council present, via., His Worship the Mayor (Mr I. Coates), in the chair, and Crs. l)ey, Tippen, Salmon, Wood, Davoy, Bell, Parr, Scott and Jones. UuKiims' Rom.. — Messrs X. It. Cox and John Cross wrote with reference to their names not being on the burgess' roll, as they had paid up their rates in time, and asking that their namrs be placed on tho roll.—The Clerk explained how it was that these names were not on the list. —Cr. Jones moved that these names and the others omitted bo placed on the roll.—Seconded by Cr. Salmon and carried.—Thu Clerk was instructed to t.iku the necessary :;teps to have Mr A. Schultze's naim: placed on the n>ll in lieu of that of Mr Meredith.

Tkanspeh.—All application from Mr G. Edgecumbe to Imvu his lease of part of Lot 411, Bridge-street, Hamilton East, transferred to Mr Thos. Chappell was granted.

Dllinr.—Mr 11. Tristram, on behalf of the Hamilton Brass Bind, applied for the use of the remains of the old drum.—The application was granted, tho Council undertaking to pay for all improvements should they call tho drum in.

Rkpoiits.—The foreman of works reported that during the month culverts have been put down at Messrs Cassidy's and Meachem's ; repairs have been done to the main drain in Hamilton West; watertables have been cleared ; gravel spread in Clarence and Thackeray streets, and a number of small jobs attended to. —The pound-keeper reported that during the month seven horses had been impounded, and fess amounting to 18s tid collected, and five of the horses were sold.—The dug registrar reported registering three dogs during the month. All the reports were received and adopted. Colvkut.—lt was decided that Mr Maunder'a application for a culvert in front of his timber yard, held over from last meeting, be granted if the rates on the property be paid. Funds.— The clerk reported that the general account was £41 0s (id in credit, but this would be reduced by the accounts passed—£l4 Its B,Vd—to £2Gos Did. UiiAiN'.—Tho Chairman of the Works Committee reported with reference to Mr Wilson's application to have tho drain in Collingwood street cleaned out, that the drain is a private one and thoy have no report to make, but the drain in Angleseastreet is in a bad state and requires immediate attention. The report was adopted. Runt.—Cγ. Jones moved that the Waikato Hospital Board be charged "« per week rent for the uso of the offices. Seconded by Cr. Salmon and carried.

Painting.—lt was left in the hands of the Mayor to make arrangements for Retting the Chambers painted and repaired. This concluded the business.

Special Meeting. At the special meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council held last night for the purpose of confirming the resolution re '■'>« by-laws passed at a special meeting of the Council held on August 3rd, there were present: His Worship the Mayor (Mr Isaac Coates), and Crs Bell, Scott, Tippen, Wood, Salmon and Davey. The Mayor inured the resolution, that the by-laws be confirmed, which was seconded by Cr Scott and carried. This was all the business.
