PATERANGI.

'Picnic.—The annual picnic was held in the school grounds on Thursday week and wae as usual most successful and largely attended from all parts of the district, the hospitable Vaterangites vising with each other in welcoming the visitors. The usual games which delight the hearts of young men and maidens were indulged in with a vim that showed they came there to enjoy themselves and for ane day at least lay aside the cares of the world, cares by the way that sit lightly on the youthful shoulders if one could judge by appearances. It would puxzle one to think where all the young ladies came from ; they came in great numbers, and with so many pretty girls the trouble with young bachelors will be, I imagine, the difficulty of making a selection when all are so charming.
