ASSESSMENT COURT AT KIHIKIHI.
Tuesday—(Before Thomas Jackson, Esq., R.M.) The Kihikihi Town Board were represented by their acting-Treasurer, Mr J. Marie Grace. Mr Gresham, solicitor, attended in support of an objection, and claimed that the requirements of Rating Act, 187(5, had not been complied with in very many particulars, especially sections 5 Hiid 12. Mr Grace was sworn, and it then appeared that the declaration as valuer which the Act requires, should be made by him prior to making the valuation list, was not actually made till after the valuation list had been cjinpleted. Tho judge held that in very many important particulars Mr Grace had not complied with the requirements of the Act. Mr Gresham stated that he had no intention to apply for c ists against the board, who he was sorry to see weie in such a, dilemma. The judge fixed the Court day for assessment for the 13th May, of which due notice will appear i'i Tub Waikvco Times.
