LATEST WELLINGTON NEWS.

(by telegraph— pukss association.) Wellington, Last Night. The annual general meeting of delegates from the various presbyteries of New Zealand has commenced. The Rev. H. B. Burnett, of Westport, was appointed Moderator for the ensuing year. Rev. Somerville, of Auckland, the convenor of the committee on education, directed attention to the growing tendency towards denomi national education, as indicated by the votes of Parliament last session. Along discussion ensued, and a motion was carried approving of the national system of education as at present obtaining, and directing that the mind of the Assembly be communicated to the Minister for Education, and regretting that no change had yet been made in the national system in favour of Bible reading in schools.

In the Divorce Court this morning rule absolute was granted in the following cases:—Seeker v. Seeker, husband's petition ; Mudford v. Mudford, husband's petition ; Oarleson v. Carleson, husband's petition. In the case, Longhurst v. Longhurst, wife's petition, on the ground of adultery, desertion and cruelty, a decree nisi was granted. The partios were married at Nelson in 1871.
