AUSTRALIAN MARKETS.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency's Brisbane report, dated Bth September, gives the following quotations :— Butter (duty, 2d per lb): Up to the present time prices have shown no important indications of easing, prime samples being, if anything, firmer since our last report. Preeh butter—special brands—have brought up to 2s 9d. New Zealand and Victorian importations, however, are not realising anything like that figure, la 7d to Is Bil being their full value at the moment. The quality of the butter recently to hand from the above-mentioned colonies has not been altogether first-class, and this factor has tended to enchance the value of our finest local productions.—Cheese (duty, 2d per lb): Prime large sizes are very scarce just now and worth from 7id to Bd. We recommend prompt consignments of priino mild only, medium sizes. Loaf size continues fully supplied, with a quiot demand at 8d to Sid.—Hanu (duty, 2d per lb): The demand has recently not been so brisk, owing to the supply being mare plentiful. English are worth Is Id to Is 2J.. and imported Colonial cures to Is. The same Company's report of tho liockhampton markets states :— Chaff (duty 10s per ton): Owing to a heavy demand setting in from our Western ; districts, we have made large sales of bale chaff, (Adelaide) at £Bte£Blos, sacks included.
