WELLINGTON, Friday. Major Gudgeon, Commissioner of Police, starts for Auckland via Napier to-day. A slight shock of earthquake was felt aa 10.15 last evening. The Chief Justice has intimated to counsel for plaintiffs that on Friday, the Court of Appeal would give judgment in the case of Tepara, Takara and others v. Alex. McDonald, affirming the decision of Mr Justice Richmond, who had decided in favour of plaintiffs, coats to be on the highest scale. The action was brought liy the original native owners of the Arahnri block, Manawatu, to regain possession on paying the amount of the mortgage, and both the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal have decided in their favour. Lieut. Lodder, of the Torpedo Corps, Wellington, has been transferred to Port Chalmers. DUNEDIN, Friday. Alexander Buchan, a blacksmith, fell down dead in his forge at Burnside today.
