LATEST PAEROA NEWS.
(fromodk own correspondent.) Pakboa, Friday. Silverton.— The winze in the low level is down 35 ft, and the water has totally abated. Breaking out the reef to a depth of G feet, reef showing gold at every breaking down. Maiitha-Extrniikd.—Brown and party, and Stevenson and party, tributers, have both good parcels out, ready for crushing. The company's portion of the mine will commence operations on Monday. The company's battery is being thoroughly overhauled, and a considerable portion of the machinery renewed. Union.—The manager is driving on the reef from the Rosemont low level, a good body of stone showing, the reef being oft. wide and looking well, and showing gold freely. Roskmont — Driving ahead in the low level. The reef is not looking quite so well. Winner.—Mr Kersey Cooper has cut a reef in the low level, 2ft. wide, showing very good prospects. This is not the reef being driven for, however, and the drive will be continued. The natives hold a race meeting tomorrow, a large sum being subscribed for prizes. A grand stand and booths have been erected. There are signs of rain.
