AIEXANDRA.
Mr Frank McMinn, of Harapepe, was the successful tendeier for the re-building of the Mangapiko bridge near this township, at the sum of £110. Nothing has been done to the earth slip of the approach to the Taweiakaiatua bridge at Whatiwhatihoe, it is very dangeroii-, especially on dark nights. Why it has not, been attended to before this is one of these things "no fellah can understand." When borne serious accident occurs I suppose it will be put to right. Tawhiao'b people are much amused at Mr Ballance's interview with Hori Ropiha nnd other natives, as reported from Wellington. They say Hoii must be porangi (mad) to have made the Native Minister believe that lie was Tuwhiao's mouthpiece in matters generally between the nathes and the Government. As far as the blue iibbon movement is conceined ho is authorised to make use of Tawhiao's name, but in all other matters he is not so. The general opinion is that the Native Minister hat been done out of three guns, and ought to have know n better. ! There are very few natives in this vicinity just now, a great number being away in various employments, and a lot at Kawhia wrangling about the proposed block of land being passed throngh the Land Court. —(Own Correspondent, March 15th.)
