RAILWAY EXTENSION. The New Train Service.

We are in a position to authoritatively that the railway between Morrinsvillo and Te Aroha will be positively opened for traffic on the first of M u eh. The line between Mm-nnnville and Lichfipk] will not bo opened until the tir-»t of Apiil. Until the last named date the present lime-table, with additions to suit the Arolia line, will remain in force, but on tho Hist of April an entirely new table-table will come into operation, in which ample provision will be made for a local service between the different Waikato township-. A train will leave Frankton junction at .5.20 a.m. daily for Te Awamutu. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday a ti.un will leave Frankton at 8 a.m. for LichHeld, returning »t 11 a.m , bringing passenger* from the Lakes, ami taking them right thrroiigh to Auckland. On Tuesday and Saturday a train will le.ne Fr.vnkton at 11 a.m. for Cambridge and Te Aroha, returning to Frankton at >5.30 p.m. The through train from Auckland will leave Frankton atl p.m. for Te Aw.nnutu, Cambridge, Te Arolia and Lichfield, and through trains to Auckland will leave those places at such hours, respectively, as will en.tble them to unite at Frankton and form a train leaving that place at about 11 a.m., as at present. The train leaving Lichfield at 11 a.m. will connect with the train leaving Te Awamutu at 2.35 p.m. for Auckland. The train which leaves Auckland at 11.45 a.m. will be continued, but will stop at Frankton. It will thus be aeen that the residents of the different Waikato townships will be enabled to visit one another and return home same day. It is true that tlie residents of Te Aw.unutu will not be able to go to and return fiom any other place but Hamilton in one day, but this could not be avoided. As compensation for thin, however, they are to have a morning train from Frankton daily, a luxury which the other centres will only enjoy for two or more days in the week. The new-table haa involved the expendituie of a great amount of thought, and Mr Hudbon and the other authorities are deserving of the best thanks of the community for their efforts. Frankton will naturally be the centre of the new service, and here .vill be kept the spare engines, &c. Tho Department have already commenced the erection of the necessary cottages, engine sheds and other requisite buildings, and it is estimated that about eight or ten hands will bo stationed there.
