WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.

The regular meeting of the Waipa County Council was held a', Oliaupo on Tuesday. Present : Cis. Lake (chairman), Grice, Teasdale, Tibdall, Lang and Germann. Rangiaohia Highway Boahd Roads. — Proposed by Cr. Tuasdale, seconded by Or. Tisdall, "That th? action of the Rangiaohia Board in the matter of closing i-o<kU as adveitkedin Th* 1 Waikato Timvm be confirmed. " — Carried. Revimox of B\ -laws.— On the motion of Cr. Lake, seconded by Cr. Grice, the matter was def srred till next meeting. j CoußE&iWfni'NOE. — A letter was leceived fiom the Colonial Secretaiy .stating that Alexandra West had, by Order-iu-Couneil, been included in the Waipa County. The I clerk was instructed to write to the Colonial Secretary stating that this had been done without the knowledge of the council, and referring him to the condition as laid down in the Counties Act, as they have not been complied with. — A letter was received from Mr A. White, of Te Awanmtu, informing the council that he has been rated at £20 per acie for property-tax, and that as it is too high, he lequested the council to reduce the valuation for the purpo.se of county rating. It was proposed by Cr. Teasdale, seconded by Cr. Germann, "That in the opinion of tins council, the property occupied by Arthur White, Te Awanmtu, is rated excessively high in comparison with the values placed on adjoining properties, land regret that it is not in the power of this council to make any alteration." — A letter was received fiom the secretary Waikato County Council 1 ©questing the Waipa Council to co-operate with the Waikato Council in getting the road fiom Ste.ele's corner over the Narrows bridge, and through Tamahere, constituted a main road. — Cr. Lake moved and Cr. Ti&dall seconded, that the request be agreed to, provided this council be not responsible for any expenses due on the road pievious to its being gazetted. — A telegram was received from the Public Works Department to the effect that the council should apply for assistance under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act, to complete the Kjhikihi-Taupo road, and al-=o that they might make application to the Minister for Defence for the use of the constabulary on this road. — It was proposed by Cr. Lake, and seconded by Cr. Tisdall, that constabulary labour be applied for, for improving and making the Kihikihi-Orakau road. — It was proposed by Cr. Tisdall, and seconded by Cr. Grice, that one or both of the Rangiaohia councillors and the engineer interview the Kihikihi Town Board, relative to determining the direction of the county road through Kihikihi. — It was proposed by Cr. Lake, and seconded by Cr. Grice, that consideration of a pound at Pukekura be deferred to next meeting. — The Engineer read his leport. Cambridge-Rotorangi Road.— It was resolved that the repairs of this 1 oad be proceeded with without delay. Such repairs to cost £100. Such sum to be recouped out of the grant under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act, when allocated. Havelock's Leap Bkidge,&c. — The engineer was authorised to get the necessary repairs made. —With regard to the Hamilton- Whatawhataroad, the Engineer reported that he had bored the swamp on this road, I and found the depth to be an average of 20 j feet, and in his opinion the road could not be made a permanent one under very heavy expenditure. — It was proposed by Cr. Lake, and seconded by Cr. Tisdall, that the chairman and member for Hamilton, with the engineer, go over the road, and report on it at next meeting. — It was decided that the account from the Newcastle Board, amounting to £3, for repairs on the main road, be not paid, but that the engineer be instructed to get the necessary repairs made on the road near the railway station. —The Engineer reported that the minimum cost of hauling gravel on the railway is Is Od per yard for any distance. Finger-Posts.— The engineer was instructed to have finger-posts erected on main roads where required. County Expenditure. — An account was received from the Rangiaoha Highway Board for £1G lls, for repairs done on the Te Awamutu- Alexandra road. — The council declined to pay the account. — It was proposed by Cr. Teasdale, and seconded by Cr. Grice, " That the council will in r.o case entertain any accounts for moneys c cpended on county roads by road boards, unless the consent of the council has previously been obtained." — Carried. — Several accounts were passed for payment.

Buckland will sell at the Cambridge Yards on Tuesday next, prime fat heifers, steers, fat cows, dairy cows, and store cattle, fat lambs, ewes, &c, See. On Tuesday, the 22nd inst., be will sell at Obaupo, on account of Mr Starrat, wbo has sold his farm, 25 cows in full milk, bull, calves, horses, sprine cart," harness, milk cans,^ saddlery, furniture, » tools, dairy utensils,' Sec.
