TE AROHA DEFERRED PAYMENT BLOCK DRAINAGE.

The Te Ainha deferred payment settlor.-* will be glad to hear that Mr Wiiyte, M.H.K., has received a reply to hi.s letter of the 18th September, transmitting an oftei from the settlers to cut another drain dow n Johnston's creek, and strongly recommending that the same be accepted. The reply of the Minister of Lands is to the efiect that the offer to do the necessary work foi the balance of vote which is still unev ponded, was iof erred to the District Engineer, Mr Hales, who endor.se-> the statement that such a drain would can y off the water from the sections on the western side of the creek, but thinks that the work should be tendeied for. In compliance with tint* recommendation, Mr Hales will be instiucted to invite tendoio .it once. The settlers will thus be able to tendei separately or conjointly for the woik, while the public will also have an oppoitmnty to compete.
