Our Dunedin correspondent telegraphs : — Mr Driver refused a requisition to stand for Bruce, but will stand for Hokonui. A Press Association telegram to hand last night reports that Mr Edmund Uruff is also a candidate for the electoral district of Kumara. Our Auckland correspondent telegraphs : — Mr Hesketh declines to allow himself to be put in nomination as a candidate at the forthcoming elections. Mr Brodie will probably stand for Coromandel, and not as already announced for the Thames.

The Bruce Ilvrnld hears that Mr W. A. Murray will seek re-election for Bruce if a requisition is presented to him. Mr G. F. Richardson is mentioned as a probable candidate for Matauia. A number of gentlemen on the Thames have had letters from Mr G. Y. Stewart, of Tauranga, asking for their support at the coining elections. Some favorable replies were returned. Captain Morris, of Tauranga, is likely to offer himself as a candidate for that district in the event of Mr Hall refusing to accede to the requisition now being signed asking him to allow himself to be nominated as a candidate. The Oamam Mail states that Mr Shrimski is the only gentleman about whose intentions in regard to the town of Oamaru anything definite is known. Mr John Reid has been mentioned, but is more likely to stand for the country constituency. Mr Duncan .Sutherland is announced for the Waitaki seat. The limri (Tauranga) has been requested to state that those interested in the Premier's return are determined that the requisition shall not be allowed to drop, and they feel confident from the character of the gentlemen in whose hands they have placed the matter, that it will be cairied to a successful issue. For the newly-constituted district of Coromandel, Mr Brodic and Mr J. C. Young are announced ; also Mr Glover, the latter having addressed a meeting at the Royal Hotel there, at which he avowed his determination to support the mining interest, .and in a variety of ways encourage its prosecution and development. Late accounts to hand report Captain Baldwin a candidate for Dunedin East. Mr John Anderson for Southern district of Canterbury ; Mr S. P. Andrews for the Northern constituency ; Mr H. Toomer for Stanmore ; and for St. Albans Mr J. Evans Brown has been mentioned. Mr C. Clark is said to be coming forward for Christchurch South. For Sydenham, Mr J. W Treadwell ia the only candidate so far. Messrs Montgomery and Rolleston both stand for their old constituencies, unopposed so far. Mr W. F. Pearson stands for Ashley ; Mr W. C. Fendall for Cheviot ; Mr Isaac Wilson and Mr J. H. Lee contest Kaiapoi ; and for Lyttelton there are three rivals — the Hon. Mr Richardson, Mr Alhvright, and Mr S. R. Webb. The Premier goes to his old constituency, Selwyn ; and for the new Lincoln district Mr H. W. Peryman is announced Mr D. McMillan is mentioned for Coleridge.
