MESSRS OPPENHEIMER AND CO.'S INDENTING BUSINESS.

The prominence which Messrs Oppenheimer and Co., tof Auckland, have of late assumed as a centre from where American manufactures of nil kind can be obtained, has been owing in a great measure' lio their enterprise and to their straightforward, ,daalings in all business transaction^. vlt will ' be easily understood thaji Messrs Oppenheimqr and Cp-> when tliey first started | this branch of their <; busihess, hi addition to their kauri gum business, had to encounter a good many obstacles and trade, jealousies, and they Were even told by more than one "candid" friend that fco expect orders or indents in sufficient quantities to make it pay, was a vain hope and a delusion, the "old importing ' houses being more than sufficient to supply all the requirements of the New Zealand market. The result, however, has proved that Messrs Oppenheimer, and; Qo. were right, and their "candid" friend wrong. In spite of all obstacles, Messrs Oppenheimer and Co. have not only established a large trade, but the indents they receive are increasing weekly, and now exceed over £5000 sterling per month. We need not seek' very far' for this success. Messrs Oppenheimer and Co. do not recommend any article except it is really good and chea'pi ai}d they will not take indents for any manufacturer except he can be relied on for honest and prompt execution of any order given. Not importing themselves, and therefore not taking any risks whether goods will sell or not to advantage, or will remain on hand for some time unsold, they need not, and do not charge importers' profits, and those who give their orders to Messrs Oppenheimer and Co. for American buggies and wagons, for agricultural implements, machinery, barb fence wire, and hnrdwaie find a great saving in the prices of the articles ordered. As it is a great thing for the settlers of a Dew country like ours to be able to obtain implements and other requirements without having to pay high prices for them, we certainly must say that Messrs Oppenheimer and Co. have done the right thing, when they started their indenting business in Auckland, and that their success, which is now an accomplished fact, is fully deserved by thorn.
