YESTERDAY'S SITTING.
[by blkctbic telegraph, own correspondent.] Cambridge, Last Night. The Court met this morning at 10 o'clock. Mr Sheehan applied for a. further adjournment to complete outside arrangements until to-morrow. He stated in explanation that the Court adjourned for a similar purpose on Saturday. A private meeting had been convened of the parties interested for the afternoon of the following day. In consequence of the | storm, however, the natives had been prevented from attending that meeting. The* heavy rain storm had compelled' them to remain away and protect their tents from being flooded out. Under these circumstances no progress had been made. It' was important that they should have an opportunity of completing the arrangements contemplated before the Court proceeded further in the matter. The. Native interpreter, Mr Young,
said that the request for an adjournment had been already made to the judge. He was most unwilling to entail unnecessary delay, as he knew that many of the natives were anxious to get back to Taupo. Ntill bethought that the adjournment sought for would tend to facilitate matters, and under these circumstances he felt justified in acceeding to the application. Mr Sheehan said that he had had some communication re the sitting of the Court at ! aupo. It would be opened this morning by Judge MacDonald, as originally proposed. It would then be adjourned till Wednesday. He (Mr Sheehan) had applied to have it further adjourned, so that it might not clash with the bnsiness of this Court. The result of that application had not yet transpired, but so soon as he had got definite information on the subject lie would take steps to communicate the same to the natives interested. The Court then adjourned until tomorrow at 10 a.m.
