BALL ON S. PATRICK'S NIGET.

The festivities •which - commenced at Kihikihi, were brought to a very satisfactory conclusion by the dance at Te Awamutu. When it was ascertained that no ball could take place at the former township on the evening of S. Patrick's day, the band fund committee decided to give a ball, in the hall, Te Awamutu, in aid of the Cavalry Band. The Band have never yet played so well as they did at the Kihikihi Races, and by their selections of dance music in the evening, they proved that their loni?-con-tinued and persevering practising has not been without itB results. Great credit is due to all the members for their assiduity, and many of those who, but » short time since were altogether ignorant of instrumental music, are now rapidly becoming accomplished professors of their art. The Ball, which commenced at 8.30 p.m., was continued till past two o'clock on the morning of the 18th. All those present seemed determined to enjoy themselves, and the iiffair was a most decided success, both as to numbers, and also financially. The people of Kihikihi contributed largely to this end, and evinced by their presence, the interest they take in the Band. |own Correspondent, March 19th.]
