At a meeting of the Cattle Board to-day, a certificate from Mr Kinloch, stating that he had examined and failed to detect auy trace of pleuro-pneumonia in Messrs Ireland Bros. ' herd at Panmure, as well as a memo, from the inspector on the same subject having been read, it was resolved, " That as it had come to the knowledge of the inspector that cattle have recently died on an infected place at Panmure, the Board approves of the action of the inspector in not having authorised the removal of cattle to the slaughterhouse." An immense crowd assembled at the Police Court to witness the trial of the murderer. The evidence was much the same as that given at the inquest. The prisoner was committed for trial. The cases against John Lamb for selling short weight bread broke down at Helensville to-day, Mr Hesketh showing that the Act under which the charges were laid had been repealed.
