WAIKATO TURF CLUB.

Tub adjourned annual meeting was held on Saturday night at the Commercial, Hotel, Hamilton. Mr Wainwright was ;voted to the chair, The Secretary read the minutes of the last annual meeting ; also the minutes of last meeting 1 of the committee, which were confirmed. The financial statement was brought before the meeting, which, considering the difficulties and opposition the Club have had to contend with, showed a prosperous condition. The balancesheet, as presented by the Secretary and Treasurer, was unanimously adopted. The' following tippointments wore made -for the ensuing ycav. President: ILicut.Colonel Lyon. Vice-President, Captain Stoclc. Judge : Dr Waddington. Stewards: F. R. Claude, Jv B. Whyte, M.H.R., F. A. Whitaker, M.H.R., J. H. M. Carpenter, C. Storey, S. Steele, J. S. Buokl.md, K. Hill, James Taylor. Committee : Messis Wainwright, Rutherford, Pilling, Breakcll, R. ~\}\. Hammond, Edward Younge' C. Laishley, J. H. M. Carpenter, and Hy. Byron, , The meeting then went into committee. Mr K. Hdl was appointed Hon. Treasurer; Messrs Pilling and Taylor were appointed Cleric •* of the Course. It was agreed , that Mr R, , Bradley be asked to accept the appointment of Clerk of the Scales. Position of Secretary : After some discussion, it was resolved that for the future there should be a p<iid Secretary of tli3 Club, as the duties were too great a tax upon any member to undertake. It was thon resolved that applications should be cnllcl for the services of gentlemen willing to undertake the duties— salary t'3o per annum, and 10 per cent, on amount of members' subscription. The question of the C ivalry races was discussed, and it was resolved that, if the Cavalry wished to have races, they must be nii'lor their own management, and that the Club would incur no responsibility, but the races must be on t l ie dly of tne Turf Club Spring Meetinir, and would be included in the programme if sufficient notice wt>re given. It was d°cidod that the Spring Meetinar take place on the last Frin.iy in November, the following events to form part of the programme : — Maiden Plate, of £20 ; Hurdle Race, -t.'iO ; Handicap, £-30, and that the .same be advertised in the \\ T uKAT<> Timks, Jftn/, and HnaM. It was stated at the raeciing that there was; H'sfroug feeling amougst, members of the Cambiidsjp Jockey Clnb, and especially nmonu^t tliosc who seceded from the parent Club tint it, would be highly advantageous to both if an amalgamation emild be eiFected, but, as there was nothing hefore the meeting, no action could ho taken.
