News of the Waipa polling was received yesteiday but created little sur.priie, the result being anticipated by 'most (people One little incident in connection with the affair is however worth 'recording. A gentleman connected with one df tho hotels on 'receipt of the telegram drew up an elaborate" &tate of the poll;" unfortunately from aome cause or other he failed to decipher the writing of the telegram, *nd only credited Mr ' Cox with 6 votes at Hamilton, giving consequently a majority to Mr McMinn of -7, instead of 49 to Mr Cox. 'It 'was productive of much laughter and some little chaff. The weather today is delightful, and all are busy at work with the hay and oats. I am afraid i have appeared to some an alarmist in the matter of hay. That which I have said was damaged so much, has surprised the farmers by keeping well through so much •rain. I see ft»t our cricketers have called a meeting for next Saturday, for the discuhsion of important business. It is to be hoped *hey will show that they can 'bandlo the willow before the summer leaves ua again. — Owij Correspondent.
