ANNUAL MEETING OF WESTERN DISTRICT SUB-ASSOCIATION

The annual meeting of the above held at Otautau was attended by Messrs P. Grant (president), J- Banks and H. MacDougall (Biverton), J. Horner end J. Sayers (Ohai), A. Harrington* W. Brown and Alan Baird (Otautau), A. Dixon and Grant (Nightcaps). The Tuatapere and Wairio Clubs were not represented. The balance sheet showed a credit of £l3 8/8, which was considered very satisfactoz-y. The Labour Day tournament at Otautau was very successful and resulted in a credit balance. Thanks are again due the Otautau Club for the use of their courts, etc.

In making his report Mr Grant congratulated Biverton on going through the season without a loss in the A grade and .he had much pleasure in asking Mr Banks to. accept the cup. He also wished to congratulate Tuatapere on winning the B grade for the first time since their entry competition. Their team was comprised of young players of promise and members trusted the Club would prosper in the future. The representative team had a great go to win the Hamilton Shield from Central and just failed, even although they were without the services of several of their best players. Later a town team had given them a good game at Riverton, several of the new district representative players gaining valuable match experience. The proposed match for the B grade representatives with town did not eventuate, but it is hoped this game will come off this season. The players were greatly indebted to those car owners who so willingly assisted with the transport of placers.. —Adopted.

It was agreed to hold both A and B grade doubles -at the annual Labour Day tournament, with entry fees gents 2/-, ladies 1/6 for each competition. Entries to close, on 16th October.

It was agreed to hold the usual A and E> grade competitions, starting on Saturday,. 28th October. Otautau, Oliai and Nightcaps tnteied A and B grade teams and Riverton an A team only. The protest from the Wairio Club, claiming matches against Tuatapere, Nightcaps and Otautau had been dealt with by the president and his action was approved. y
