OLD WOMAN’S DOMESTIC SERVICE.

OYER 70 YEARS AA’ITII ONE FAMILY. i .At the age of 14 Elizabeth. Vincent went to her first employment—as one of the undermaids in the third Lord Eadstock’s household” At the age of 85 she is still serving that family. Miss Vincent was promoted from -her post of undermaid to be Lady Racistoek’s personal maid, and still later housekeeper to the family at Corh Castle, Dorset. Now she is housekeeper io the Hon. Mrs Edwvn Bevan, of AA’ray Lane House, near Eeigate, Surrey, granddaughter of the third Lord Radstock.

The old lady has covered the walls of her cosy little room at AAYay LamHouse with photographs of member;': of the family. There are pictures of quaint A 7 ictorian groups, romping children, pretty girls in their “presentation” gowns and feathers. ' Some of those photographed are dead, some are married and are now lhe parents of yet more romping children. Bu Miss Vincent knew' or knows them all. and can’tell the whole history M then lives nnd romances.

“After 70 years of sharing ineii- jty-, and sorrows, I fuel that the Radstoek family is as close to me as my own,’’ Miss Vincent said to an interviewer. “I have seen live generations if then; grow up, and have had my jarf in all that has happened to them. I am immensely proud - to have been in tliii confidence all these years.” Miss Bevan still allows Mis.-, Vincent to keep all the household accounts. “She is a fisrt-class accountant,” said Mrs Bevan.
