SOUTHLAND WINTER SHOW.
CHEESE GRACING COMPETITION
The cheese grading competition which has been going, on for the last five seasons under the auspices of the Southland A. and P. Association has just been brought to a. conclusion, the winner being Mr George Dickson, Mataura Island Dairy Factory. The competition was for the highest average grading points for all cheese shipped from Bluff from November to March. The prize was a. 25 guinea cup, presented by the Shaw, Savill and Albian Co., Ltd., through their agents, the National Mortgage and Agency Co., Ltd., Invercargill. Following are the annual winners: Points. 1916 F. L. Hurst, Hekeia Dairy Factory 91.99 1917 George Dickson, Mataura, Island 93.34 1918 — George Dickson, Mataura Island not recorded 1919 F. O. Milne, Waianiwa 92.94 1920 George Dickson, Mataura Island 93,22 The Winter Show entries close on Saturday next, April 24, and judging from the interest already being taken in the event, an excellent show may be expected. One of the chief departments will he the school children’s exhibit, which will he on the same lines as last show. This section is being organised by Messrs Robert Brownlie and Robert Gibb and is creating much interest among the pupils of the various schools throughout Southla'nd. Two dog trials will be held on the show days, a maiden event on the Tuesday, and the Southland championship drive on the Wednesd.ay, commencing at 11 a.m. each day.
