VISIT OF THE PRINCE OF WALES.

Invercargill is making extensive preparations to fittingly celebrate the occasion of the visit of the Prince of Wales. Following are the recommendations of the several committees :

That ferns be placed .along either side of Dee street to the showgrounds at not more than 30 feet apart and that they be, connected with festoons, and illuminated at night. That the local bodies of Southland be asked to contribute a suitable banner bearing its name ■ and a greeting to the Prince for display along the route. Such local Bodies to be informed that .the Oomimittee would supply banners at cost price is desired.

That various local bodies be requested to appoint delegates to the committee, and that they be asked contribute, towards the cost of the decorations even to the extent of erecting an arch. That the citizens bo asked to illuminate their buildings and to make free display of bunting. That the Government buildings, the Post Office, the Colonial Bank buildings, Grand Hotel. Deo street arches, the Athenaeum, the Water Tower, the Fire Brigade Station, and the approach to the Drill Hall be illuminated.

That a public reception bo held in the evening, in the Drill Hall and a stand be erected for the Prince and his suite about the centre of the south wall, andi that the platform for the performers be erected opposite. That decorations consisting of greenery and flags on the walls be used and streamers for the body of the hall. That a lane be fenced off w.ith a single rail to allow the_ public to see the Prince and return to the body of the hall.

That the Pipe Band play the Prince from the hotel to the hall, and that arrangements re combining other pipe bands Bo left in the hands, of Mr Wilson. .

That on. arrival at the Drill Hall the National Anthem be played by the orchestra and sung, by the male choir, to be commenced when the Prince reaches the platform.

That a welcome be given by the Mayor and the Prince- reply.

That tlie Orphan’s Club Orchestra be asked to supply the programme, the male choir to be associated with the orchestra. That the Hibernian Band be asked to assist at the Drill Hall.

That raised tiers be provided for the orchestra and the choir.

That the Dominion Band play at the show grounds and the Dominion and Hibernian Bands at the band rotunda, the Regimental Band will bo engaged in connection with the military programme.

That the Guard of Honour and the Regimental Band see the Prince off.
