BARNARDO HOMES.
The collectors for contributions to the rescue work of these Homes will wait upon contributors during the course of this week. For 53 "years Bamardo’s Homes have been a most effective social agency for dealing with destitute and orphan children. In those years 88,000 boys and girls have been saved from slum-life and given a training which has made them useful citizens. To. celebrate the Jubilee of the Homes the Director is asking for a National Thanksoffenng with which to equip the Homes to play their 'part in the great •social reconstruction following on the war. The. sum to be raised will bo devoted to a Naval Training; School for the Merchant Sendee, the Boy’s Garden City, a Training Farm for Boys' and Girls, A Home for Crippled Children, a Sanatorium and an Hostel. It is hoped that all will recognise that no institution deserves belter than Barnardo’s Homes, and that all will respond liberally to the appeal for their support. Should anyone be .omitted by.-the collectors, in town or district, they may send their contribution to Mr Hewat, local Treasurer, and they will receive an acknowledgment in due course.
