METHODIST CHURCH.
Harvest Festival services were celebrated on Sunday and Monday, March 28th and 2lHh in the local Methodist Church. On Sunday morning Mr T. Borland gave a Harvest sermon. Thoughtful and pungent with useful" lessons, it was listened to with much interest. In the evening Mr Field spoke .from Acts 20, 35-38 verses, Paul’s farewell to the Church at Ephesus.* On Monday evening the people came in great numbers to a. concert rendered by visiting friends, assisted by the choir. Mrs Thomas, of the Salvation Army sang exquisitely, and Mrs J. Stevens excellently rendered 2 songs. Supper was afterwards served) by the ladies, at which fully 100 partook of the good things supplied. The work of decorating "the- church was tastefully and admirably done. The sale of goods was a very attractive one, and the liberality of the people, both town and country, wa-s shown by the large amount of fruit and prodluce donated —potatoes' fowls, grapes, apples, plums, tomatoes, carrots, parsnips, a mammoth loaf-r-and everything sold well and at satisfactory prices. A load of wood was also- kindly donated by the wood-merchants of Longwood. The office-bearers of the church- and the Minister thalik all who dlid so well to make the appeal effort such a success.
Mr Field leaves for Christchurch, on Wednesday next, and wishes to place on record hi« thanks to all his own people, and •to the townspeople, who have helped him during his stay in Riverton.
