SCHOOL CONCERT AT SCOTT’S GAP.

The above concert took place ou Fri- j day evening when) a large number of par ; ents and friends wefe present, Mr. J. Childs occupied the chair and in the • course of his remarks Ife impressed upon j the chillrem the attention they should bestow to their studies, because the children df the present, would be the determining factor in the making of future history. A first class programme was submitted by the school children comprised as follows; Fan Drill, juufor pupils; Skirt Dance, Tona Saltou; song by May Childs and Florrie Aitken) two little mits, ‘T don’t want to play j in your Yard,” was a real treat to lis- j ten to, while a Treesome Reel by Grace Aitken, Jane Kennedy, and Vera MacKay. A Cantata, “Soot and the Fair- | ies’ by all the pupils was all that could be desired. Great praise is due to Miss McKay and Miss Ireland for the way in wliich the pupils danced and sung, and was a decided credit to the Scott’s Gap residents. Mr. J. Childs then distributed the prizes which comprised handsomely bound volumes, every child in the school receiving a prize. The special prizes for attendance went to Vora Mac Kay who had only missed half a day in the year, Grace Aitken only five halfdays, while Archie Paterson received the honours for the longest attender amongst the boys. The special prizes for' sewing went to Isa Kennedy and Alice Aitken. Mr. Childs then asked Miss Ranee to come forward and accept a little gift on behalf df the children. Miss Ranee who for some time had been assistant teacher at the Gap bad been transferred to Heddon Bush some time ago. Miss Ranee had endeared herself to the children and bad always done her best with them. He wished her well in her spacro and hoped she would sue ceed in life. Mr. Aitken then present ed Miss Ranee with a. handsome silver tranket and hairpin box. Mr. W. Three ringing cheers were then given for Miss Ranee by the pupils A number of songs and recitations Were also given by adults and earned well deserved applause. Specif amongst these were song and recitation by W. Gonley, Clog Dance by Miss McLatchey and Dance by Mrs Ireland. At the conclusion a. hearty vote of thanks was accorded the performers.
