Otautau Town Board.

Owing to alterations being madegin the Town Hail, which is being enlarged, the monthly meeting of the Board was held in office, Present: Messrs Walton (chairman). Officer, King, O'Brien, Ford, Seatter, and Mathe&on. Outward correspondence was read, and in this connection members repressed that the clerk bo accorded thanks for the trouble taken in providing information supplied in the various letters written. Mr J. C. Thomson, M.P., forwarded •a letter from the Minister of Railways intimating that provision would not be made at present for placing a verandah at Otautau Railway Station.— Received. Mr J. 0. Thomson, M.P., forwarded a letter from the Minister of Public Works to the effect that the Board's request for payment of a subsidy 'towards the worl< done 01 river protective works would be considered. — Received.

The fallowing is the Minister's reply:—''lt is proposed to remove the reservation from a't'eut 30,000 acres in the District during this session, and the necessary papers to accomplish this have already been laid on the table of the Hou-e. As soon as tin' requisite formalities have been complied with the lands will be subdivided into areas suitable for settlement." K'eceived. A motion was carried that Mr Thomson, M.P., be titanked for lm courtesy and promptitude in replying to the various matters referred tj him for consideration.
