Ironclad Disaster
RIO JANIERO, 23. The Brazilian ironclad Aquidaband's powder magazine blew up at midnight on Sunday at Jacaie Pagna, while she was escorting a Ministerial party abpard the cruiser Barrosoon oil a tour of inspection of sites for a naval yard. The Aquidaband sank in three minutes, and it is reported that 300 perished. One officer was saved. The drowned include four rear-admirals, a number of naval officers, and Government officials who were guests on the Aquidaband.
