The wheat markets are quiet, but firm.

Fat Cattle —195 head yarded. The competition wag good, and Jast week's prices were fully maintained Best Bullocks, jE9 to £l l 10s; medium. £7 10 to £9 ; others, M 2s 6d to £7 7s 6d ; best cows, £7 10s to £9 2s 7d; medium, £5 5s to £7 7s 6d; others, M to JBS 2s 6d.

Fat Sheep—3o9o penned, mostly fair to good ewes, with a few pens "of very heavy wethers. Competition was keen up to late quotations. Extra heavy wethers, 18s 6d to 19s; good do, 17s to 18s 3d ; medium, 15s 6d to 16s 9d; others 14s to 15s 3d ; best ewes, 10s to 17s 3d ; medium, 13s 6d to 15s others, lis to 13s 3d.

Fat Lambs 731 yarded, and all sold well. Best, lis 2d to 12 9d ; medium, 9s 9d to lis 3d,wethers, 7s 6d to 9s 6d.

Pigs-65 jenned, and sold in favour of vendors- Suckers lis 6d to 17s 6d ; slips, 22s to 25s ; baconers 60s to 71s —no extra heavy.

ADDINGTON MAEKETS. The entry of sheep constituted a record» the total yardin being 40,000, and, notwithstanding the great entry,' prices realised were good t Fat Cattle—3ol head yarded. Steers, £6 10s to £lO 17s 6d, extra prime £l2 10s, heifers £o 17s 6d to £9 10s, cows £5 5s to £9 ss. Beef 25s to 28s per 1001 b. Fat Sheep—The entry comprised a large proportion of ewes and wethers in good condition, and for these there was keen demand, buyers for export operating freely. Existing rates were maintained and comparatively few lots were passed. Freezing wethers 15s 7d to 18s 9d, wethers and maiden ewes 15s 6d to 16s 7d, freezing ewes lis to 14s 6d, best butchers' do, 14s 6d to 16s lOd, extra heavy 17s lOd to 18s 7d. Fat Lambs—The entry comprised a good proportion of first-class quality, which met with spirited competition. Prime freezers realised 13s to 15s 6d, tegs 16s to 17s lOd, butchers lots lis to 15s.

Store Sheep-24,298 yarded, including large quantities from Marlborough. Prices were fairly maintained, and although a large number of medium and poor quality were passed, first-class 3heep met with keen demand, excepting towards the close of the sale.

Pigs—Forbaconers and porkers, showing fine quality there was very keen competition, and prices were more than maintained. Baconers 55s to 755, equal to 5d to sjd per lb, porkers 44s to 52s 6d, equal to 5 id, stores 253 to 35e, suckers and weaners, 9s to 17s

Wheat—Millers are not displaying any disposition to operate freely. A fair demand exists for medium and inferior for feed purposes. Prime northern milling, 4s 4d to 4s fid; good, to best, 4s 2d 4s 3d ; inferior to medium (for feed), 3s to 4s Id —sacks extra. Oats—Some new season's lots are not extra keen. Until a better supply arrives and buyers are convinced that prices have reached bottom or are able to purchase at rates equal to those in the north business will be restricted. Prime milling, Is 9d ; to- Is lOd ; best short bright feed, Is B*d to Is 9d; medium, Is 7d to Is 8d ; inferior Is 3d to Is fid—sacko extra.

Barley—Business is confined to small lot 3 for seed and milling at 3s to 3s 3d—sacks extra.

WOOL SALES. London, March. 16. At the wool sales there was good competition, and prices are well maintained. Sydney, Mar. 17 At the wool sales there was a good _at tendance and strong market, and prices were 2i to 5 per cent, higher than a month back Greasy sold to lid, and secured to Is 9d.
