Ups and Downs of a Millionaire.
Senator Jones, of Nevada, seems to have experienced some strange imitations of fortune. One year lie is a millionaire, and the next year lie is Hat broke. To-day he has SIOO,OOO to his credit, to-morrow lie is $50,000 poorer Ilian when he was horn, lie is an inveterate stock gambler, and always a hull. At one time, fifteen years ago, he was worth $5,000,000. A severe streak of had luck followed, and in two years he was almost penniless. During Ills flush period he presented his wife with SOO,OOO worth of diamonds. When he reached the financial zero tie asked his wife to lend him the diamonds. She did so. He sold them and invested the proceeds in mining stocks. The venture was lucky, and in less than a year the SOO,OOO had increased to $500,000. He then returned the diamonds to liis wife, increased by 25 per cent. Jones is Interested in mine's in Nevada, California, Arizona, and Colorado. His wealth is now up in the millions again.
