We may not be able to fly either in this century or the next, hut much of the lighting of the future will undoubtedly he aided by kites and balloons. We may be able, too, to launch terrible missiles from Hie clouds to destroy the camps and fortifications of a foe as well as take photographs of these, aud thus find out his strength and frustrate Ids plans. The Germans, according- to a French paper, have invented a new kite balloon, which it is expected can be easily guided and leered oven againL the wind This is one step in advance, at all events, and whatever may he said against the German system of warfare, the men who uphold it leave no stone unturned to keep the army ahead of every other army in tbe world. Science, and science alone, will guide us to victory in the future, yet how very slow those who rule naval and military matters in tins country are ? When we go to war defeat and disaster may overtake our forces at any moment, and then who will say any longer that Britannia rules the ocean V
