A MADMAN ON AN ENGINE.

While an express train was rushing towards New York a madman climbed over the baggage cars and made bis way to the engine. Scaring away the driver and stoker at the point of a revolver he took charge of the train himself. Ho put on all possible speed, until the train was clashing along not far short of one hundred miles an hour. The carriages rocked violently* and the passengers became greatly alarmed when they learned the cause. Reinforced by people from the train, the driver and fireman, returned, and after a desperate struggle overcame the madman.
