Monday, December 3rd. The monthly meeting was attended by his Worship the Mayor (E Ward, Esq), and Cr«. Hancock, Martin, Pankhurst, Petohell, Akhurst and Rowles. The following applications were granted : E Ward and R Rerndtson to ereo 4 - boatsheds nfc South Riverton; F Gray and S Campbell to burn oft sorae and bash; and A Bell to burn rubbish. It was decided to notify a certain owner of an allotment in the eemrrery that his fence was not «rectod according to the rules, and request him to have it put right. The Works Committer reported that Milton Street ha I been improved at the lower end, and intimated that the »Fph*lting and cu»-binsr of Palmerston Street would commence on Thursday. It was decided to retain the services of the assistant surfaceman another month A deputation, consisting of Woi Gunn, T B McCarthy, D McLeod, and Jno Forsyth, representing the Riverton Mining Association waited on the Council to request some monetary assistance. —Or Wartin introduced the deputation, and spok* in favor of the required assistance being eiven. Tie deputation then pointed out that every £1 contrihuted meant an additional £3 from the Government, and as lhay intended to prospect in the neighbourhood of Riverton, the town would benefit ty the expenditure. The Council then wen*; into committee to consider the application. On resivriDg it was decided to defer the matter until next meeting. Attention was directed to a fence recently erected across a ro.idline in block 4, South Riverton. Left with th 9 Mayor to deal with. J. R. Mills and Son were granted a renewal of auctioneers license. The services of E Simpson wero retained to supervise the woik of asphalting. It was decided that a deoutatioa wait on the Hon. J. McKenzie, shoul i he visit the Riverton Show to-day, re getting a title for the recreation ground recently handed over to the Council.

The matter of the encroachment of a section on Bay Road, South Rivet-ton, was left in the hands of the Mayor. The clerk was instructed to servo a notice on S. Carapbel', South Riverton, requesting him to prevent drainage from his drain on to Shrewsbury Street. Accounts amounting to £2O 3s 6J were pa*srd for payment. The Council then adjourned.
