WESTERN DISTRICT MARKETS. J. R. Mills and Co, auctioneers, Riverton, report— We held a sale of stock at Callaghan’ 8 yards, Fairfax, on the 20th inst. There wa s a good ontrv of sheep, and a few pens of cattle. The' latter were dull of sale, but there was good demand for all classes of sheep. Some good lots were forward, those realising highest prices being 95 grand twotooth wethers from the flock of Mr John Ford, Groper’s Bush, which made 13s lid each, and 83 very fine store lambs bred by Mr John Grant, Fairfax, sold at 10s Bd, and we also sold 209 ewes at 9s Gd; 67 do, 7s lOd; 41 do, 10s 7d ; pen fat do, 13s 6d ; 46 two-tooth ewes and wethers (small), 10s 8d ; 293 lambs, 7s 3d ; 130 do, 6s ; 109 small cull do, 4s 8d ; 6 Border Leicester rams, at from 21- to 3 guineas. On account of Mr David Reidio, 8 two-tooth Leicester rams at an average of 4 guineas. On account of Mr A. Jones, 11 ram lambs at 255. Cattle—9 steors at £4 18s; 6 do, £3 13s: 5 do, £2 15s. Our next sales will bo held at Wairio on Ist April, and at Drummond on 3rd April.
