THE CHEMIS CASE.

[Press Association.] Wellington, Tuesday. Evidence in the perjui-y case against Detective Benjamin having finished this morning, Mr Jellicoe summed up this afternoon, the address occupying two hours. He reviewed at length the evidence adduced, chiefiy as to its bearing on the evidence given by Benjamin at Chemis' trial. In concluding Mr Jellicoe contended there was ample evi dence to send the case for trial. In reply to Mr Bell the Magistrate was not prepared to say at present whether there was a case to answer. He would take time to consider the voluminous evidence. On Monday he would intimate whether the defence should show cause why the accused should not be committed for trial.
