The following unopposed applications were granted:—-Section 191, Oreti Hundred, A. McLeod; J. Thomson, section 133, Oreti Hundred; section 194 do., D, Hunter ; section 195 do., W. Walker (subject to a half chain road being taken from the western boundary.) T. Dyke offered to lease all the unsold sections in Waimatuku township for grazing purposes at 4s p r acre per annum.—Declined. George Dose, holder of deferred payment section 281? Taringatura, wrote stiting that he wished to surrender the allotment.—lt was decide! to declare the section forfeited, and to inform the writer that his action does not free him from liability for arrears of rent.

Messrs Small and Co. were, on the recommendation of Ranger Campbell, granted a lieense to cut timber on sections 40 and 41, block 6, and section 10, block 17, New River Hundred.

Ranger Campbell also reported on the application of Messrs Frew and Go. for perm'sslon to cut timber for sawmill purposes on 50 acres in the Longwood Forest.—Refused, the application being informal.

Mr Kinross said that as enquiries had been made on the subject of obtaining pnkaki bark for dyeing purposes, it might be well to have a clause added to timber regulations, providing for the issue by the Board of barkstripping licenses.—The Chairman said that a number of suggestions had already been made to the Government, with the view of amending the regulations, and he suggested that the clause should he held over till the whole question was taken up by the Government in the State Forest Bill,—This course was accordingly followed.
