STAINLESS STEEL
PROTECTION FROM RUST A SCIENTIST’S DISCOVERY British Official Wireless Service RUGBY, February 25. A new type of stainless steel which it is claimed will revolutionise scores of industries has been evolved by a Sheffield scientist, Mr F. F. Gordon. The method, briefly stated, is to give ordinary steel <a coating of stainless steel which will protect it from rust. The coating can be as thin as one-thousandth of an inch. This opens up possibilities of stainless steel ships, bridges, aeroplanes, railway carriages and springs, to mention only a few directions in which, it is stated, this invention could be applied.
