NO PROTEST
ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH AND GERMAN ARRESTS COLOGNE, February 23. A letter from the Vicar-General j which, upon the order of the Arch- ( bishop was read in all Roman Catholic churches, indicates that no active protest is being made by the Church against recent arrests of officials of Catholic Youth Organisations, and says it is hoped that the public will learn the full circumstances from court proceedings. The letter adds that whatever the verdict, the fact remains that the organisations for three years have been in the forefront against Communism and Marxism and have done everything to educate German youth to be good citizens. Another letter from the Archbishop, which was read in some of the churches, asked Roman Catholic parents firmly to resist the new State schools, in which religion will no longer occupy a primary position.
