WORK IN THE BOBOUGH ENGINEER’S REPORT The Borough engineer (Mr H. B. Smart) submitted the following report to the Council at its meeting last evening.— Water Reticulation For the .month of July the centrifugal pump ran 172 J hours. The number of units of electricity consumed was 8022 and the estimated amount of water pumped was 3,450,000 gallons. For the corresponding period in 1934 the punifp ran 159 hours, using 7,389 units of electricity, and mimped 3,180,000 gallons.

The new starter for the motor at the pumping station arrived on August 5 and was installed and put into operation on August 7.

The water connection to the sale- s yards has been increased to lj inches , and a valve in Porangahau Road re- . packed. : Sewerage Connection One sewerage connection has been laid in Nelson Street. Building Permit One building permit has been issued at .an. estimated cost of £45; fee received 5/-. Roads and Streets Grading, metalling and other gen‘erail work has been carried out during the period. A total of 222 cubic yards of river shingle has been spread on various roads and streets. The wooden culvert at the corner of Northumberland and Marlborough streets has been replaced by a line of pipes, and a blocked culvert in Holyrood Terrace has been cleaned. This necessitated the lifting of more than half the pipes. Light in Hunter Park The light in Hunter Park has been ' erected, an old street lamp standard I and fittings being used for the purpose, | Cleaning Septic Tank The contractor completed this work on July 27, and made a satisfactory job of the actual cleaning of the tank, but there are a few matters still to be attended to before finial payment is ; made.
