MAIN TRUNK CLEAR
EXPRESSES AGAIN RUNNING TO NORMAL SCHEDULE (Per Press Association ) AUCKLAND, Last Night. Gangs of men working throughout the night succeeded in clearing the slips which had blocked the Main Trunk line north of Taihape suffieient- ' ly by 7.30 this morning to allow traffic to pass. The Limited express from Wellington, which was diverted through Taranaki on Sunday night reached Auckland. at 2.36 f p.m. to-day instead of 9.40 a.m.; nearly five hours late. The afternoon Limited expresses were despatched to-day over the main line which had been used by goods j lirains throughout the day although reduced speeds were necessary over certain sections. The expresses from the south are expected to arrive at the usual times to-m orrow. BIG SLIP NEAR AWAKING (Per Press Association). TE KUITI, Last Night. ‘ Road traffic between New Plymouth > and Te Kuiti is held up by a large slip in the Awakino valley, six miles I north of Awakino. There is no available detour. The slip is a large one and brought down several trees, while, y' two telegraph poles are suspended : n the air. It is hoped to clear it by tomorrow, but it may take two days.
