GOLF AT HASTINGS
HOLDER OF TITLE BEATEN SEMI-FINALS REACHED The weather was again fine, but with a strong wind blowing, for the second day’s play yesterday in the Hastings Golf CJub’s annual tournament at the Bridge Pa links. There was a surprise in the morning’s play of the championship, when J. B. Wilson defeated last year’s winner, T. Garrod, five and three. The semifinals have now been reached and will be played to-day, when J. Black will play Kapi Tareha and W. Wilson will meet J. B. Wilson. The final will take place this afternoon. Following are the results of playyesterday:— CHAMPIONSHIP. First Round. J. L. Black ,beat S. Powdrell, 3 and 2. W. T. Kuru beat R. White, 6 and 4.
H .E. Troutbeck beat L. Bishop, 2 and 1. K. Tareha beat J. R. Hobbs, 1 up at 20th hole. W. A. Wilson beat W. Matthews, 2 and 1. R. St. Lawrence beat S. Sinclair, 1 up at 19th hole. J. B. Wilson beat T. Garrod, 5 and 3. L. Reid beat J. Mapu, 2 and 1. Second Round. J. L. Black beat W. T. Kuru. Kapi Tareha beat H. E. Troutbeck. W. Wilson beat R. St. Lawrence. J. B. Wilson beat L. A.
