SMASH INTO POLE

ACCIDENT AT CARTERTON HORSE BADLY INJURED An accident occurred in Belvedere’ Street, Carterton, on Thursday night between 7 and 7.30 o’clock, which might easily have involved more serious consequences. A horse and cart, driven by Mr W. H. Spicer, of Anderson’s Line, collided with a power pole opposite the entrance to the Wairarapa South County Council yards, and the impact caused the* cart to topple over upon the driver, while the horse received injuries so severe that it was found necessary to shoot it. The driver, fortunately, escaped with his life, and beyond a shaking, cuts, bruises and shock, was not harmed.
