FLOOD WATER

IN AUCKLAND STREETS A NIGHT OF HEAVY RAIN (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Last Night. A night of heavy rain, which almost assumed the intensity of a cloudburst, produced flood conditions in many Auckland streets. There was a depth of four feet of water in Wilding Avenue, some of the street gates being almost submerged. Fortunately all the houses are built on raised ground, and although in two or three cases water completely surrounded the buildings, it was not up to the floor level, and no damage was caused. As there is only one exit from the street, residents from the far end could not leave except by climbing over the fences from section to section. A resident in Aberdeen Street, which is adjacent to Wilding Avenue, was able to drive his car clear just in time.
