GOLF SEASON

In Central H.B. WAIPUKURAU CLUB OPENS CANADIAN FOUR-BALL In perfect weather, the Waipukurau Golf Club’s links at Maharakeke were officially opened for play on Saturday afternoon. \ There was a large attendance, including visitors from the Mt. Herbert and Takapau Clubs. The course, despite the need for rain, was in excellent order, reflecting groat credit on the caretaker. The afternoon proved very enjoyable and the enthusiasm shown augurs well for a successful 1934 season. A mixed Canadian four-ball was played, some of the best cards being:

THE FLEMINGTON CLUB The Flemington Golf Club opened its season on Saturday afternoon, when a mixed Canadian foursome (over 13 holes) was played. The winners were C. Miller and Miss H. Nicholls. The secretary (Mr V. Stratford) declared the season as formally opened and drove the first ball. There was an assemblage of some 30 players and a very enjoyable time was spent. A dainty afternoon tea. was' dispersed by the ladies.
