FESTIVAL CONCLUDED
THE NAPIER COMPETITIONS CENTRAL H.B. SUCCESSES Last night brought to a close the 1933 Easter festival of the Napier Competitions Society, which must rank among the most successful ever held by the society from the points of view of both numbers of competitors and general excellence of performance. The society has always conducted the competitions in such a manner that they have become an outstanding feature in Napier every year, and this year has been no exception. Further results of special interest in Central Hawke’s Bay are: — Contralto solo. —Miss I. Cairns (Waipukurau), 77 points, 1; Miss D. Symonds (Hastings), 75 points, 2. Character recital, gentlemen, not humorous. —Mr R. Cheyno (Wellington), 77 points, 1, Mr A. Lambourne (Takapau), 75 points, 2. Operatic solo, lady.—Miss Nellie Dykes (Napier), 84 points, 1; Miss Dorothy Symonds (Hastings), 80 points, 2; Miss Isobel Rust (Waipawa), highly commended. Dialogue.—Misses G. Kerr and V. Lewis (Wellington) 80 points 1; Misses N. Pollock and D. Hungerford (Wellington), and Misses M. Wills arid B. Alexander (Waipawa), 70 points, (2, Humorous recital, gentlemen.— A. Lambourne (Takapau), 71 points, i;Mr J. Peel (Napier), 70 points 2; Mr' S. J. Henry (Hastings), h.c.
