TAKAPAU NOTES
THE GOLF CLUB HOLDS ANNUAL MEETING (From Our Own Correspondent) The annual meeting of the Takapau Golf Club was held on Friday night when there was a very good attendance, evincing a keen interest in the sport and club,, which has seldom been seen. The meeting was presided over by Mr. C. Callender, who called on Mr. J. O’Dowd the lion, secretary to read the report and balance sheet which showed that the club had had a most successful year with a substantial credit balance after having carried out many improvements and kept the links in good order. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—ratron: Mr. Hugh W. White; president, Mr. J. Caughley; vice-presidents, Mesdames J. B. A’Deane, J. Holden and Mr. W. Cuthbertson; captain, Mr. H. H. Edwards; vice-captain, Rev. Father Devlin; bon. secretary, Mr. J. O’Dowd; treasurer, Mr. C. Callender; committee, Messrs. G. S. White, C. J. Smith, W. Davies and T. G. Prescott, Comd. Tollemache and Mrs. A’Deane and Mrs. T. Prescott; handicappers, Messrs. G. S. White and C. Callender; greens committee, Messrs. C. J. Smith and T. Prescott; and auditor, Mr. W. Cutbertson. It was decided to open the links on Saturday, Ist April, when a hearty invitation is extended to visitors to be present. The new rules will be submitted to the incoming committee for approval, then be printed and circulated among the members. Several new members were proposed and suggestions were put forward to come before the committee. Garden Fete The ladies of the Takapau Presbyterian Church are busy making arrangements for the garden fete to be held at “Brookwood,” the residence of Mr. and Mrs. N. M. Paulsen, on The stalls will be loaded with goods of a profitable and saleable nature with plenty of amusement for all.
