Unusual activity is being displayed

throughout Central Hawke’s Bay in common with other part's of th« province, in regard to extraction of Tycgrass seed from the prolific growth evident throughout the countryside. Tr. has been found that because of its parmanency the Hawke’s Bay product has become in Dominion-wide demand and many settlers are finding the thrwAing process to be fairly profitable. At ft meeting of the executive of the Waipukurau Chamber of Commerce held last night, Mr B. L. Wallis, president, presiding, the position created by Cabinet's decision in raising the rate of exchange from 10 per cent to 25 per cent was the subject of considerable discussion the consensus of opinion be-

ing that the course pursued represented a grave national blunder viewed from economic or social standpoints. It was generally agreed that the primary producers in need of assistance would not derive a full measure of benefit while tho public as a whole would have their spending power impaired, the inflation being only sectional in character. On the motion of Mr A. C. Holms, seconded by Mr -T. McCarthy it was decided that the Associated Chambers of Commerce be assured of the executive’s endorsement of its stand in opposition to Cabinet ’s action, the member for the district to be advised accordingly.
